3. Rangiroa - 3 Days

Surrounding one of the world’s greatest destinations for scuba diving, the 240 islets string together in the ocean for more than 110 miles completely encircling a deep lagoon. This is Rangiroa, a place that is simply beyond human imagination. The beautiful loop of islands is surrounded by different kinds of ocean: Moana-tea (Peaceful Ocean), which defines the lagoon, and Moana-uri (Wild Ocean), where whales, manta rays, dolphins and sharks put on a show for the lucky few who come to experience their world.

The main villages of Avatoru and Tiputa offer the visitor a unique look at the South Pacific. Along the few roads that exist, you’ll encounter coral churches, craft centers, local restaurants and boulangerie, along with a few tiny shops operated by locals. 4. Tetiaroa - 4 Days

The private atoll of Tetiaroa lies just 30 miles north of Tahiti, but it may as well be worlds away for its privacy and unspoiled beauty. With its white sand beaches, swaying coconut palms, colourful birds, and sparkling lagoon, Tetiaroa is a dream paradise. Best known as Marlon Brando’s private island, Tetiaroa is a place of rare biodiversity, providing a gorgeous natural sanctuary for birds, sea turtles and precious marine life. The breathtaking atoll holds a special place in Polynesian history and culture, as it was once the exclusive and favoured retreat of Tahitian royalty.  Brando once stated, “Tetiaroa is beautiful beyond my capacity to describe. One could say that Tetiaroa is the tincture of the South Seas”.  It is not surprising that Brando fell under its spell during the filming of “Mutiny on the Bounty” in 1960 and later went on to become its owner.

Accommodation

The Brando

Nestled on the breathtakingly beautiful atoll of Tetiaroa, the Brando sits on one of a dozen motus that surround a spectacular three-mile wide lagoon.  With access to the atoll by a 20-minute private plane flight from Tahiti, the all-inclusive resort features 35 secluded luxury villas with private pools on beautiful white-sand beaches frequented by sea turtles and exotic birds.

This Polynesian style resort offers two restaurants showcasing Polynesian-inspired dishes, East/West fusion and classic French cuisine; a luxurious spa and wellness center, a lagoon-view bar in the canopy of the palm trees; a cultural center and an environmental research station with guest programs.

Activities

Step barefoot into your imagination

An abundance of activities await those who want to discover Tetiaroa. Snorkel and dive with tropical marine life, sail in the lagoon, or paddle board to a neighbouring island. Grab a  bicycle and explore the paths around the island or take a picnic to a favourite beach.

Stroll the long stretches of beach, enjoy guided  marine, bird, and cultural excursions, or simply spend a day in the spa and wellness centre. Step barefoot into your imagination and experience a private and pristine South Pacific paradise.
